PARENTS: If kids don't want to play softball. Don't force them. Softball should be fun and enjoyable for your child. If your child is fighting you constantly on going to practice and games as well, why force them to do somthing they aren't enjoying. I know that as parents, we love to see our children thrive while having fun, and being happy; but sadly, some parents are pushing their children TOO hard. Some children need a little extra push to get their butts in gear, but if they really aren't having fun, or being successful, it would be best if you didn't MAKE them do softball. Attitudes are also contagious to the other girls on the team who play, so if your child has a poor-sport attitude, then you should really double think about putting them on a team. It may pull, or slow the team down. Like the famous saying goes, "There's no 'I' in team." You should be backing each other up, and cheering each other on. I personally know from experience that a team performs EXCELLENT when everyone is happy, and into the sport. I hope to see girls out here because the love of the sport, not because their parents wanted them to, or the famous, "My mom made me..." Glad to know that there are websites for softball fans, as well as myself to express themselves and share the love of the game. From being a personal competitive coach for over 20 years, I can honestly say I have been there and done that.

I just thought I should get that out onto my chest because I have been around softball/baseball my whole life and it's a shame for parents to push their children into the ground face first. They are children, let them have fun! Also if your child makes a mistake out there on the field, DO NOT bark at them. They are out there playing for enjoyment. When you start yelling at them for a missed ball, or a strikeout, you completly throw off their game. They start thinking they aren't good enough, and that it's almost not even worth playing.

Parents please take this message into consideration. I personally know that this works from experience. Try not to put your kids down, or make them do anything that's not fun.

Thank you for reading this and Good luck to all the ASA teams competing for Gold.
