Local Business Drafts Olympic Softball Petition
A Florida business, recently featured in Florida Today & revered for their dedication in helping Softball teams throughout the country, has begun a Petition to Reinstate Softball in the 2016 Olympic games, and all future Olympics as well.
Michelle Masso-Buckelew, Founder of SoftballFever.com, was exasperated after the recent ruling by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to keep the popular women’s sport out of the 2012 Olympic games in London. So much so she’s drafted her own online petition with the hope of personally delivering it to the IOC once it reaches 1 million signatures.
The sport is still scheduled to be included in the 2008 Beijing Games and can apply to be reinstated in 2009, for the 2016 games. Masso-Buckelew has vowed that if Softball is not fully reinstated in 2009 she will begin a worldwide campaign to Boycott all Summer Olympic games thereafter. She feels the decision by the IOC to remove the games are "purely anti-American" as the U.S. Women’s Softball Team has dominated the sport, winning Gold all 3 times, since it was first included in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Softball and Baseball are the first sports to be cut from the Olympics since Polo in 1936.
SoftballFever.com is a popular new website that features over 400 Softball products such as jewelry, apparel and novelty gift items. They have also pioneered a variety of ways for Softball Teams to earn cash for their playing expenses and team needs.
